CHILD Global Risk Observatory
A source-connected view of emerging hazards, possible interactions and early action for children. Reported events are not predictions; missing coverage is never an all-clear.
Explore a country, district or community
Centroid-based screening within 250 km. This cannot resolve the safety of a particular road, school or house.Outlook windows · what can be supported?
Choose an area to retrieve the available weather-model period. A seven-day view does not predict earthquakes, structural collapse or every local hazard.
Connected feeds, freshness & integration roadmap
Latest 100 GDACS and ADAM records, plus the USGS seven-day summary, are screened and deduplicated by issuer event ID. Long-running hazards and less-reported places may be absent. Polling is not guaranteed real-time delivery. GDELT reporting is separate: up to four recent 15-minute exports are sampled per refresh, accumulated since connection and capped at 600 distinct report clusters. Missing exports, outage gaps and duplicate reporting remain possible; neither report counts nor coding establish corroboration.
External data retain their rights and uncertainties. CHILD is an independent integration and decision-support environment; no UN or provider endorsement is implied.

Flood & flash flood · preparation
What could be disrupted?
Drowning, unsafe water, interrupted care and separation.
What can be done now?
- Plan an accessible route and a meeting point before routes flood.
- Keep children away from floodwater; follow evacuation instructions.
- Prepare safe drinking water, essential medicines and child-care supplies.

Build an area preparedness brief
Select a country and, preferably, a region or district. The model samples one regional reference point—not every location in the area.
Multi-hazard coverage & knowledge gaps
Not assessed does not mean low risk. Select a topic to change the preparation brief above.
Why no single combined risk score?
Intensity and likelihood, exposure, vulnerability and response capacity are separate inputs. CHILD shows issuer assessments, model values and your context separately. Without validated local population, building and child-impact models, a combined percentage or universal high/medium/low rating would be misleading. Ratings from different issuers are not numerically comparable.

Choose a broad area and opt in. A daily digest covers reported events within 250 km of its reference point—not the whole administrative area or an impact zone. It includes source gaps and child-focused preparation tips. It is not an urgent alarm.
